Mirage: A Moonshine Surfboards Film
Mirage (2024) is Moonshine Surfboards' latest surf film, set against the dreamy backdrop of the Mentawai Islands. Featuring the Moonshine team, the film captures fluid surfing and the versatility of Moonshine Surfboards distinctive shapes.
Produced by shaper Jack Medland, Mirage captures the magic of a 30th birthday trip that morphed into a full-blown Moonshine expedition. Filmed by Josh Evans and crafted by Lachlan Micale, the film follows a tight-knit crew from the South West of WA, all bonded through their connection to Moonshine.
What began as a casual boys' trip quickly turned into a unique showcase for the versatility of Moonshine shapes in the dreamy waves of the Mentawai Islands. With nine surfers and a filmer aboard the Sola Gracia (courtesy of Indo Surf Charters), they set off chasing elusive island barrels.
While the swell wasn’t the monster they'd hoped for, the crew made the most of it. Equipped with an impeccable quiver of longboards, twin fins, and fun shortboards, the Moonshiners still managed to score some playful waves, making up for the lack of size with pure style. Between sashimi sessions, Bintangs, and a few wild shenanigans, Mirage isn't just a surf film—it’s a reflection of the camaraderie, fun, and creative spark that defines the Moonshine ethos.
Mirage offers an insider's look into the journey of a group of mates, blending surfcraft, exploration, and the ever-present allure of that perfect wave.
